Rykneld Homes has taken delivery of a smart new fleet of 72 works vehicles to help us run our business more efficiently.

Over the coming weeks the new fleet in silver will gradually replace the old maroon coloured vehicles which are now six years old and ready for changing. The new fleet, to be used by the housing maintenance section, will save Rykneld Homes thousands of pounds a year on leasing costs.

The fleet includes Citroen Relay heavy vans, Citroen dispatch vans, Citroen Berlingo vans and Citroen Nemo vans. The contract with the local authority specialist fleet provider TransLinc.was jointly negotiated with North East Derbyshire District Council. They worked with Rykneld Homes to look at how different ways of working in the housing maintenance service would lead to changes in the kind of vehicles required.

The changes meant that smaller and lighter vans were required rather than larger and heavier vehicles. The new vehicles are also designed to the latest environmental standards which will lead to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 18%.

Ian Yeomans, Director of Asset Management, said: “At Rykneld Homes we are constantly looking to more efficient ways of working and how we can offer good value for money.

“The old fleet was ready for replacing and together with North East Derbyshire District Council we have negotiated an excellent leasing contract which will save us thousands of pounds.”

The opportunity to view a range of vehicles before the selecting our fleet enabled us to select the most efficient vehicles for the job.”
