Our Community Involvement Team worked with our young Community Improvers, Estate Caretakers and Housing and Support Officers to support some of our more vulnerable customers to maintain their gardens.
The team toured the district in areas which included Grassmoor, Dronfield, Holymoorside and Killamarsh and carried out work at bungalows and houses.
Community Improvers hard at work.
Jason Sadler, Community Involvement Officer said, "The gardens were identified as untidy and we wanted to work with these customers to understand why the garden had become like this and whether there were any barriers stopping them from maintaining the garden, such as financial barriers or disabilities.
"As a gesture of good will we offered to reset these untidy gardens in the understanding that the customer will then be able to better maintain it in the future."
The teams worked on 8 gardens in total and reset them to the standard when the customer first received the home. It is hoped that by doing this it will make the garden easier for the customer to look after in the future.
Our young Community Improvers also came along to lend a helping hand and earn some points for them to use towards a fun outing in the future! They worked really hard on this project and will have gained useful skills from it too.
