New Tupton Evangelical Church have been running a food bank in Tupton for the past 7 years to help the local community who might need their support.
Sylvia, who runs the food bank at New Tupton Evangelical Church with her friend Joyce, approached our Housing and Support Manager for Tupton, Joanne Ball, to see if there would be any support available from Rykneld Homes for the Food Bank that they run at the church.
Joanne Ball set up a donation box and asked staff at Rykneld Homes whether they would be able to help. The response was fantastic, and the box ended up being filled! We delivered the food to the food bank on Tuesday 22nd January.
Sylvia said, "We are absolutely blown away by the kindness of Rykneld Homes staff, we’re very thankful. It’s absolutely fantastic."
Housing and Support Officers Marie and Matt, along with Joanne Ball handing over food at the Food Bank.
"We feel that it is a privilege to help these people, the need for food banks is growing and we encourage more people to come and speak to us about their situation and offer our help. We run a coffee morning on Tuesdays from 10am to 11am where you can pop in for a chat.
During these sessions we’ve heard very emotional stories of parents starving themselves in order to feed their children. We don’t turn anyone away no matter their circumstances and we don’t judge them."
"Should people wish to help the food bank by making donations of food they can do so by calling 07927 012879 and arrange to meet either myself (Sylvia) or Joyce. Or bring it to the church during the coffee morning."
