Derbyshire County Council Online Adult Education Courses
Taster courses include languages, yoga, floristry and creative writing skills.
Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Councillor Alex Dale said: “These courses are completely free and are designed to give you a taste of what’s coming up in our main Autumn term programme.
“If you’re looking to pick up a new skill or hobby why not take a look at what’s on offer, but spaces on the courses are limited so make sure you sign up as soon as possible to guarantee a place.”
Some courses can be done online at a pace that suits you while other courses will be delivered remotely using Zoom where learners will be part of a live class with a tutor and fellow learners. All you need is a laptop, tablet or smart phone with internet access.
Learners will be provided with a list of materials or equipment they need for each session.

Derbyshire Carers Emergency Card Scheme
The Derbyshire Carers Emergency Card Scheme is a way of letting emergency services know you are a carer and that someone relies on you for support.
Anyone who provides essential support can obtain a carers emergency card, regardless of the amount of support they provide.
As part of the card application you will be asked to make contingency plans for the person you care for.
This information will be kept on the Derbyshire County Council (DCC) database so professionals can access it and quickly help to arrange alternative support if required.

Summer Food Programme - Grassmoor
Joint project - FareShare, Grassland Hasmoor Big Local, Rykneld Homes and Grassmoor Methodist Church
Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, the usual summer activities programme in Grassmoor, organised by Grassland Hasmoor Big Local (GHBL), was suspended for 2020 and instead, a Summer Food Programme was organised in its place. GHBL, working in conjunction with FareShare, Rykneld Homes and Grassmoor Methodist Church distributed food to children including: fresh fruit, cereals, tinned foods, milk, juice and much more. GHBL organised a group of volunteers to distribute the food with Grassmoor Methodist Church offering both their church hall and volunteers to assist with the distribution. Rykneld Homes donated games, toys and books. The programme was an incredible success with 125 children participating and 250 food bags collected. The children were encouraged to prepare nutritious meals using the food provided.
GHBL would like to offer a big thank you to everyone involved, especially to all the volunteers without who the programme could not have happened.
