As part of our commitment to raise awareness about dementia we have delivered more community training in 2019.
Some of our workforce have become Dementia Friends Champions following training from the Alzheimer's Society which means they can advise groups and organisations about the personal impact of dementia and what they can do to help.
We have delivered a training session in September at the Holmewood Parish Pavilion to a range of partner organisations including North East Derbyshire District Council and local representatives.
We are also planning to work with other groups in the district to deliver training to their members.
A previous attendee who has become a Dementia Friend following training by our Community Involvement Team said, "If someone is offered the Dementia Friends training or is thinking of taking part in the course then go ahead and do it. You will learn a lot.
"This is something that everyone should know about. A lot of things like this can be stigmatised and training like this helps to beat that stigma."
