Funding Chair Based Exercises
As well as running our own chair based exercise sessions
at Rawlins Court in Coal Aston, our Community Involvement Team also funded a group called Strictly No Falling Walton to hold their own sessions through the Neighbourhood Improvement Budget.
We provided around £350 worth of funding in order to help the group to purchase the resistance bands required during the chair based exercise, and other various exercise equipment. The funding also allowed the group to cover their insurance costs and buy an advertisement in a local magazine to spread the word!
The chair based activity session now runs once per week and is followed by a tea/coffee and a chance for the attendees to have a chat. The group then play games such as boccia and new age kurling, allowing them to socialise as well as have fun!
The organisers of the session said “The group are developing new friendships and we are noticing an improvement in mobility, everyone says that they enjoy coming and spending the morning together."
"The funding from Rykneld Homes has allowed us to supply the equipment required to run the activity sessions, without it we wouldn't be able to run the sessions. It has been very gratefully received”
"The people who come to these sessions have said how much it has helped them, both socially and physically. They have said they are able to reach higher and stretch further than when they first started and they feel brighter in themselves."
"The group have also become really good friends with each other and enjoy getting together for a cup of tea and a chat."
