We were pleased to be able to support the Living Hope Food Bank in Mickley with our Neighbourhood Improvement Budget!
The Living Hope Food Bank applied for funding from our Neighbourhood Improvement Budget (NIB) to allow the group to continue to operate in Mickley for the next financial year. We were able to support them with a £1,000 grant.
Tokkie Haywood, who runs the food bank said: "On behalf of Living Hope I would like to thank you for granting us funding to keep Mickley food bank open for another year."
In the six months between April and September in 2017 the Mickley Food Bank provided food for 1,256 adults and 904 children in need within our district.
Some of the fantastic comments received from users of the food bank include:
"Everyone welcomed me and made me feel as part of a family, I was in a desperate situation and it was a life saver. I will be forever grateful."
One family said, "We are on benefits and money is very tight. The people who run the food bank provide us with our food which helps relieve the pressure. They are very friendly and always ready to listen and help anyway they can. Thank you."
Another user said, "I don't have a lot of money coming into my household and this makes things more manageable. Also, I am a lone person and the coffee and the great welcome I have received gives me something to look forward to."
