Work to build new homes in North Wingfield is well underway with the first customers set to move in this Spring.
Rykneld Homes in partnership with North East Derbyshire District Council and contractors Westleigh are developing 50
new homes – a mix of 23 bungalows and 27 houses.
The development – Wingfield Court – replaces 45 non-traditionally built houses on the Alma estate. The scheme is part of Rykneld Homes and the Council’s long term regeneration plans for non-traditionally built properties. Similar new build projects to replace older homes have already been successfully carried out in Eckington, Killamarsh and Grassmoor.
North East Derbyshire District Council's Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Bette Hill said, "This is a great opportunity for us to improve the quality of the housing we are able to provide.
"We are delighted to be able to offer our tenants the chance to move into brand new, modern homes within the heart of North Wingfield.
"This scheme is the latest in a long line of housing regeneration schemes we have been implementing with Rykneld Homes across the District. Our primary aim is to provide better quality and more modern homes for our tenants - and this redevelopment will do just that."
Nigel Barker, Chair of Rykneld Homes, said: "This new scheme at North Wingfield continues the pattern of joint working and we look forward to being able to deliver more new homes for families in the District.”
