Emergency Response Service

The Independent Living Service, delivered by the Housing & Support Officers, is a 24-hour service providing assistance at the touch of a button.  This covers home safety and emergency response.

Help at the touch of a button

Customers will receive a Lifeline unit, which can be used to raise an alarm call from anywhere in the home by pressing the pendent button or illuminated button on the unit.  Calls are answered at our dedicated 24-hour Response Centre, where trained operators will take the appropriate action.

The Lifeline unit has a powerful loudspeaker and microphone, allowing hands free two-way speech to be established between the caller and the Response Centre Operator.  They can offer reassurance at times of distress.

Responding to your call

As soon as the Response Operator answers a call, they will have the details of the customer including name, address and telephone number as well as other health details.  Dependent on the type of emergency, help will be summoned from the most appropriate person/agency to help the customer.

What do I need?

All you need is an active telephone and electrical socket (within 6 feet of each other).

This service is available to all residents of North East Derbyshire aged 55 and over.  Our customers feel safer, more protected and feel reassured that help is available in their home when needed the most.
