- Make sure all windows are closed and locked before you go out
- At night, make sure ground floor windows and windows near pipes or flat roofs are closed
- Do not leave keys under a mat or on a string inside your letterbox
- Do not leave notes for callers on your door when you go out
- If you go away for a few days, remember to cancel regular deliveries such as milk or newspapers. Leave the address and contact number of the place you are staying with the Police or neighbours so you can be contacted in case anything happens
- Ask to see identity cards of any callers to your home before you let them in. Our staff, and those of our contractors, will always carry an ID card. Look at the card carefully and if you have any doubt, call the Police
- Join a Neighbourhood Watch scheme if there is one operating in your area. If not, ask the Police how to start a scheme up.
