We recognise that people are different. Our Equality and Diversity policy means that whether you are a member of staff, a tenant, a customer or a Board Member you can expect to be respected and valued.
We have joined the government's Disability Confident scheme, which means we are helping to positively change attitudes, behaviours and cultures, including creating a workforce that reflects the diverse range of the customers we serve.
What is Equality and Diversity?
Equality and Diversity (E&D for short) is about giving people who have different needs or skill levels, or different physical and mental abilities, the same opportunities that people without these needs have.
We recognise that people’s needs and abilities are not the same and that these differences, whether because of gender, gender reassignment, age, race, religion, colour, beliefs, ethnic or national origin, sexual orientation, marital status or disability do not prevent people from accessing our services or achieving their potential, free from discrimination.
Why is Equality and Diversity important?
We believe that by understanding differences and encouraging others to do the same, we can support communities for customers and residents to live in and work in.
Who is responsible for Equality and Diversity?
Every employee or contractor of Rykneld Homes has a responsibility to make sure that people are treated fairly. We are committed to responding positively to people's different needs – and this commitment is from every area of the organisation.
Our Board and staff are given training on E&D and we report regularly on our progress. Anyone working on behalf of Rykneld Homes has to have E&D training to ensure they adopt our principles.
