Published on: 08/01/2018

Severn Trent Water has given notice to North East Derbyshire District Council (NEDDC) to end the arrangement for the Council to collect water charges. Therefore, as of the 1 April 2018 you will be invoiced directly by Severn Trent.

Severn Trent offers a number of payment options and also provides help and advice on the best billing option for you, or for anyone experiencing financial difficulties.

Your tenancy agreement with the Council will be amended to reflect these changes. Customers will receive a Preliminary Notice of Variation to the Tenancy Agreement (Section 103 of the Housing Act 1985).

This notice sets out what the amendments are and how we will consult with you regarding the changes:

1. Removal of water charges from section 1.5 of your tenancy agreement.

2. Update the agreement to comply with new Data Protection Legislation coming into force from April 2018. This incorporates the inclusion of a privacy statement which describes how information provided by you will be used.

3. Update the qualifying period for Right to Buy from 2 years to 3 years to comply with current legislation.

4. Any reference to "Neighbourhood Support Officer" will be changed to "Rykneld Homes Ltd".

This preliminary notice of variation is served in accordance with Section 103 of the Housing Act 1985 and a consultation period with you will now commence.

If you want to know more about the changes North East Derbyshire District Council are intending to make to your tenancy agreement, why not come along to one of the Information Drop In sessions listed below?

Each session will be attended by representatives from Severn Trent Water, Rykneld Homes, and North East Derbyshire District Council.

Following the end of the consultation period on 9 February 2018, the Council will consider any comments made before serving a Notice of Variation which will change the terms of your secure tenancy agreement. The effective date for the change is 1 April 2018.
