Residents and community groups in Tupton can now enjoy easier access to Tupton Community Room following a collaborative improvement project delivered by Rykneld Homes, Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) and Gratton Construction.
The project has transformed the approach to the community room, creating a more welcoming, accessible and inclusive space for everyone.
A new step-free entrance from Madin Street enables more residents to access and enjoy the facility independently, while new fencing provides greater privacy for neighbouring residents.
Rykneld Homes identified that the building’s original stepped entrance was limiting its use. To improve accessibility and encourage greater community use, Rykneld Homes worked with EEM to explore potential solutions.
Through its extensive network of partners, EEM connected Rykneld Homes with Gratton Construction, who generously agreed to carry out the improvements as part of their commitment to delivering social value.
Gratton Construction contributed its construction expertise, labour and materials to install the ramp, handrail and fencing at no cost to Rykneld Homes.
The community room officially reopened on 15 October 2026, when members of the local community joined representatives from Rykneld Homes, EEM and Gratton Construction to enjoy the improved space and refreshments.
It is hoped that the new step-free access will enable residents and local groups to enjoy this community space for many years to come.
